Empowering the Next Generation at Luyando School
Luyando School in Ndola, Zambia, was thrilled to welcome a team from Beyond Ourselves this month for a transformative visit. The team conducted Dream and Dare Days for the Grade 7 girls and boys, respectively—empowering them to recognize their God-given purpose and equipping them with tools for goal-setting and personal growth.
These special days also addressed common gender misconceptions within Zambian culture. The boys explored a redefined version of masculinity—one built on love and care—while the girls learned to appreciate the magnificence of their bodies, particularly in relation to the menstrual cycle. They also gained insight into overcoming long-standing cultural stigmas that have impacted generations of women.
It was especially encouraging to have the head teacher, who attended the Beyond Ourselves facilitator training in 2023, join us. With renewed confidence, she expressed her excitement about hosting a Dream Day on her own in the future—an inspiring step towards sustainable, community-led empowerment.
Beyond Ourselves is honored to walk alongside schools like Luyando, supporting educators and students in creating a brighter, more equitable future.
